The mission’s activities have been disrupted in the last couple of years for various reasons and are now being re-launched. We are still getting going, but the following activities are planned:
The Liturgy will be served twice a month on a Saturday morning by Father Filaretos from Durban. This has not yet started, but should start early in 2017.
Prayer of the Hours
We hope to start praying a reader’s service of some of the Hours two or three times during the week.
Study Group on the Church’s Year
This group that meets in Scottsville will focus on the liturgical year by listening to and discussing some podcasts by Father Thomas Hopko on the Sundays of the Triodion. It meets every Thursday in the late afternoon.
Introduction to Orthodox Spirituality
This course will be held on a Saturday afternoon and is planned to start at the beginning of Lent (March 2017). It will be based on Volume IV of Father Thomas Hopko’s The Orthodox Faith and will include topics such as Orthodox Spirituality; the Beatitudes; the Virtues; the Greatest Virtue is Love; Prayer, Fasting, and Alms-Giving; Sexuality, Marriage, and Family; Sickness, Suffering, and Death; and the Kingdom of Heaven.
If you are interested in participating in any of these activities, please contact Macrina on 084 530 5234 or email email@example.com.
